The Review: This highly memorable production of Arthur Miller’s masterpiece strips the play right back to its core. There is no set to speak of, apart from a bench surrounding the white performance area. This minimalistic approach works to stunning effect as you have no choice but to concentrate on the actors and their words. The play’s issues have never been more clearly shown. Mark Strong is superb as Eddie, desperate to keep his niece from marrying the ‘wrong type’, and it is shattering when the sparse white set is drenched in blood during the unbearably tense closing minutes. An unmissable production.
The Verdict: See it.
