The Review: Jason Statham stars as the eponymous ‘mechanic’, a man whose job is to kill people and make it look accidental. If you disengage your brain, you might enjoy the ride but it’s all far too preposterous and none of the characters exude warmth. But then I suppose this isn’t a film for people looking for emotion. There’s the obligatory explosive finale which is a neat twist (brain disengaged) or utterly bonkers (brain switched on). The singular positive is Donald Sutherland but he doesn’t last long. Perhaps he asked to be killed off so he wouldn’t have to endure any more.
The Review: The one time you'll want popcorn to block everything out.
