The Review: Pride tells the remarkable story of the gay community helping the striking miners of a Welsh village. A stellar cast do the funny, sad and occasionally shocking plot justice. Despite the huge potential for sentimentality, there is enough darkness to counterbalance it.
There’s a wealth of engaging characters, some bold and outspoken, others quiet and yet to find their voice, some filled with hateful prejudice, others with such passion for what is right it makes you weep with joy.
AIDS hangs silently, menacingly, in the background, but you leave the cinema feeling you’ve witnessed something truly inspirational. And you have.
The Verdict: See it and tell the world about it.
