The Review: The danger of watching a cult film is that you are setting yourself up for being underwhelmed. It’s certainly a good film, but not the masterpiece I was hoping for.
The dialogue, peppered with swearing, crackles and the acting is excellent. It’s bloody and violent and blackly comic. The end, I suppose, is satisfying.
I didn’t connect with any characters, but guess it’d be worrying if I did! It’s worth a watch but I can’t help feeling its cult status is simply because it’s Tarantino’s first main feature and it contains all the trademark violence and language his fans expect.
