The Review: Jason Watkins is simply astonishing as the eccentric landlord, Christopher Jefferies, who was wrongly arrested for the murder of his tenant Joanna Yeates. He manages to totally inhabit the role, both physically and vocally, and delivers a heartbreaking performance as an innocent man judged and condemned by the mobbish media.
The first of this two part drama is superior, unrelenting in its tension. The second focuses on the aftermath of Jefferies being cleared and is more uplifting - as uplifting as you can get after a murder.
It’s beautifully filmed and well directed but this is all about Watkins’ phenomenal acting.
The Verdict: Jason Watkins gives one of the TV performances of 2014.
